"I am a disabled veteran who began services with S.A.F.E. after I was unable to get the care I needed through Veteran Affairs. I can honestly say that if I had not received the services I did with S.A.F.E. I would not be where I am today, holding my head high and facing the day without fear. When I first sought treatment I was struggling with low self-esteem, depression, PTSD and anxiety. I had been out of the military for three years and also dealing with other life factors such as divorce. The process of getting started was very simple and all of the staff (from the intake personnel, to my counselor, to the lady at the front desk checking me in) has always made me feel welcome and safe. Since receiving services my entire family has benefited from my progress. Each session has challenged me in a way that long after I leave, the lesson learned from that session is carried over into the oncoming days ahead. In my sessions I am able to talk through the things that were "sticking" to me and my counselor was able to help me put things into a different perspective. Since beginning treatment a little over a year ago I have been able to improve on every aspect of my life: as a person, a spouse, a parent and I have even returned to college. Working with the staff at S.A.F.E. enabled me to see the hurt in my life from an angle of victor instead of victim. My counselor has always remained patient and compassionate yet, strong and determined to see me overcome my battle with my disabilities. I have never once doubted how much they genuinely care and most of the time I feel I am talking to and getting guidance from a dear friend instead of just a counselor. Never once have I been made to feel like I am just "complaining" or being "weak". I have been validated in my pain but also freed from it. I have recommended S.A.F.E. to the ones I care about and will not hesitate to continue doing so. The people that make up the S.A.F.E. community genuinely care about those they help and it shows."

"I've been going to SAFE since January of this year and I'm glad I gave this a try. I go to SAFE in my hometown of Clarksville TN where I see my therapist named Valerie. She really has been a big help for me, she listens and actually gives feedback and advice on any situation that bothers me or that I have going on in my life. Valerie has helped me too think before I act and too try too plan for the future of what may come my way to help me too avoid what I may regret. Going to SAFE has been a much better experience than I thought it would be and Ive gotten a lot more out of it than I thought I ever would. Even though Im better than I once was I'm constant work in progress and I hope I can continue to use SAFE and its therapist when needed. I will no doubt highly recommend SAFE to others who are prior service or active. Use my experience to encourage others to look for and actually get help."

"SAFE has been an answered prayer in my family's life. I am an active duty leader in the Army, and counseling has allowed for me to take care of my own mental health, focus on my family, and then truly be present for Soldiers and whole-heartedly engaged. I am unceasingly grateful. Thank you!"

"This organization helped me in so many ways when I had no one else. They are so understanding of the military life and what the struggles are. I couldn’t have made it through the situation I was going through at the time. It was nice to go to someone who wasn’t directly associated with the military but supported them and understood the military and our lives and struggles. Thanks to SAFE I have gained my life back! This is for sure the real thing and can help so many people. I hope more and more that people will reach out to them for help, I share them with every military family I know!"

"We both enjoyed our sessions with Lantz who is beyond amazing at his job. Each week going to see him was something we looked forward to because we knew he was going to help us while still being down to earth and personable and straightforward. We are grateful for your help Lantz!"

“With my condition it is difficult for me to feel comfortable with mental health providers, but my session with Valerie today put my mind completely at ease! She was so warm, compassionate and welcoming, it was just what my soul needed to feel right about sharing a huge piece of myself with another person. This is a phenomenal program and I highly recommend them if you are on the hunt for behavioral health services that are sensitive to the needs of military families! Thank you SAFE and Mrs. Valerie!”
