Strengthening the Emotional Health of Our Nation's Heroes
Our mission is to serve as a resource for the community to provide confidential counseling, increase accessibility, and develop culturally competent mental healthcare providers. We work towards peace and healing by providing professional counseling services, advocating for clients, decreasing incidence for families and the community alike. In addition, we strive to help develop cultural competence for future mental healthcare professionals who work with the first responder and military population. These services are provided at no cost and no insurance is required. We are a non-profit organization funded solely through grants and private donations. We will not deny services to any person on the basis of age, sex, religion, disability, national origin, or sexual orientation.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO CLIENTS
We will always respect the integrity and welfare of our clients. Our providers are professionally licensed and culturally competent to deliver high quality mental wellness treatments. The client’s right to self-determination is protected by Soldiers And Families Embraced. We recognize the client’s right to receive or refuse services.
CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY
Client confidentiality is of the utmost importance to us at Soldiers And Families Embraced. We are not connected to DOD, VA Healthcare, or any other system. We do not report to any agencies, unless you file a written request for release. SAFE is HIPAA compliant. Our staff will protect the client’s right to privacy and confidentiality except when such confidentiality would cause harm to the client or others, when agency guidelines state otherwise, or under other stated conditions (e.g., local, state, or federal laws). We will inform clients of the limits of confidentiality prior to the onset of the helping relationship. If it is suspected that danger or harm may occur to the client or to others as a result of a client’s behavior, we will act in an appropriate and professional manner to protect the safety of those individuals.
NONPROFIT STATUS
We are exempt from Federal Income Tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. For more information about our nonprofit status, please visit our givingmatters.com profile here or our guidestar.org profile here.

Comments from SAFE Founder, Jodi Mccullah
Many of those who serve in combat return to the safety of their homes but still don’t feel as if they have “come home.” Too many experience guilt, anger, difficulties with trust, and feelings of isolation- all normal responses to the abnormal experiences of combat and readjustment upon homecoming. Their families also struggle with many of the same issues as they try to help loved ones make the transition into the home and our community, as well as ones unique to their own situation.
Soldiers And Families Embraced is a resource for the community to ease the readjustment and reintegration of military members returning from our current wars and their families, as well as veterans from previous eras. After returning from combat, a “normal” post-deployment life seems somewhat impossible—our veterans have witnessed things that have given them a different outlook on life, altered views of themselves, and sometimes others. However, a “new normal” doesn’t need to automatically equate to negative feelings or outcomes. It’s a healthy and productive way to live life, and how people cope and come to grips with the trauma they’ve been through.
The Mental Health Providers and staff of Soldiers And Families Embraced are made up of veterans, family members of veterans or active duty military. We have extensive experience working with Military and their families. We “get it”, and in many cases have been through the struggles our clients deal with on a regular basis. We know this population, because we are this population. Due to this connection and understanding, you can count on us to be there for you and with you. There’s no need for fear of judgement or the need to justify why you have the worries and struggles you do.
